"Toilet paper...Do we really NEED it? Check out today's Fabulous Fact"

Everyone remembers when they first saw that tantalizing teaser on AOL's Welcome Screen. It's moved into their archives now, sporting a plug for the area's posting board. ("A fan asks, how many wipes does it take to get the job done?")

In the interest of research, I visited the area. Next to their standard icon of a pushpin holding a message was the subject line "Do the toilet twist. Messages: 302."

302 messages? You'd think AOLers wouldn't have that much to say on a topic like that.

You'd be wrong.

Below are some of the subject lines.

To twist or not to twist.
the urinal double flush
WASHING HANDS
opinion of the plumber
Toilet ECHO
Wadding or Folding?
paper hanging
A Question for the Ladies
Guys and the crapper
those cool toilets
Toilet paper usage
Flushing before I'm up
Toilet Safety & Other Stuff
May I push in your stool?
goldfish funeral
shit happens

The most intriguing part was watching 302 AOLers trying to discuss toilet etiquette without violating TOS.

Flushed with success, the next week AOL's Welcome Screen announced a new topic. "Crest or Urine? You decide!"
